Ideas for marketing: 1. Flyers at local coffee shops promoting the program. 2. Talk to the current students about the importance of promoting the program from within. Chances are that people we work with may be interested in the program.
Hire good professors, make the classes challenging and make students earn their grades. I did know much about WSSU's program until a board member of my credit union mentioned that he recently graduated from the program. I then started asking around and heard of other graduates who said it was a good program.
Market WSSU as a low-cost, local alternative to WFU and as a more convenient alternative to UNCG as UNCG is a significantly longer drive for Winston-Salem and western Forsyth Count residents.
Make course the more challenging. Make students do a lot of work at home and at class. From reading text and other relevant material. Case and situation analysis based courses rather than directly testing text book concepts. Do projects and show prototypes. Intake students with basic Excel or Access knowledge and with some work experience. There is a huge disparity in class when students with no Excel knowledge have to start using Excel for decision making and analysis.
