Task 4: Question 1

4 comments:

  1. The café will conduct e-business in the business-to-business and business-to-consumer markets. Business-to-business relationships will include:
    - Banking. We will utilize online banking and electronic bill pay so that we can manage our banking relationships and initiate payments to our suppliers online.
    - Vendor Management through an inventory tracking system that tracks inventory levels.
o Certain products, like supplies and our main food/coffee staples will be ordered automatically by the system once the predetermined reorder point has been reached.
o Other products considered specialized, seasonal or slow-moving will not be reordered automatically. Instead, an e-mail will be initiated to management when the quantity of these products reaches the predetermined re-order level. Management will be required to approve the order in case we want to change the reorder or decide not to reorder depending on whether we decide to shift product focus based on the products demand.

Business-to-consumer e-business will take place in the following ways:
    - Our website will be designed to be very user friendly, identify and highlight our organizational mission and will provide links to local places of interest that we think our customers will be interested in visiting either before or after their visit to the café.
    - Consumers will be able to place orders online and replenish the monetary balance of their loyalty cards.
    - Consumers will be able to visit our website to learn about our coffees and menu items, contact us with questions (via e-mail, not instant messaging), see our schedule of events and access our blog.
We will develop a portal for employees to use to access their payroll information, available and used vacation and sick time, learn about our insurance benefits and to process and follow-up on the status of health and dental insurance claims. The portals will also have links to supplier websites and will be set up to track prices of various coffee blends.
We will not offer kiosks in our café due to their expense, security concerns and the belief that many of our clientele will own laptop computers and would rather access the internet from their own computer.
We will use website metrics to track unidentified visitors, unique visitors, page exposures, site exposures and hits.

  2. I think Rob covered mostly everything in his response and I agree with it. We can always add to this list later as we move forward and we figure out new ways to use e-business.
Rob, thanks for putting this together.

  3. For B2C model - we can have a events portal for updating events, Receiving recipes and conducting competition among customers.

Section on home page to display 'Best Employee of the Month'.

For customers, have a weekly newsletter generated for those customers who sign up. They would get information regarding events, newer recipes and available snacks and other tips.

For B2B model - Have a side-bar for advertisements. This will help us generate revenue as well.
